Shall I go first then? Quite liked the Fairfield Horseshoe. It's pretty accessible, road side parking near by, ascent not too high or difficult and a good plateau walk. Views are pretty good (but then again it's The Lakes) not too long a walk and great pubs (Golden Rule) at the end and you're in Ambleside with all amenities.

Hi,
One of my favourite hills is Beinn an Lochan in the Arrochar Alps, it is just short of Munro height, but so what?? It is simply a fabulous mountain walk. Cheers, John.

Thanks John, never done anywhere in Scotland and a Corbett could be a good start before tackling a Munro.

Actually a lot of the Cotbetts are harder walks than a lot of the Munros. Since the Munros have become so popular most of them have good paths to the top, whereas some of the Corbetts don't.
Sparky, there's just so much in Scotland with so many great hills to climb.

I like Nothumberland, excellent coastal and hill walking, plenty of variation. The paths aren't as worn as the Lakes or Peak District. Beer is a bit cheaper.

Thanks Lazlo. Living on the west coast I've always done 'The Lakes' but fancied Kielder or N.Y. Moors. Never thought asking a walking group for walking routes would be so hard. Guess I'll stick to silly posts. Thanks again and hope to catch up over a lemonade or two on next saunter.

Stac Pollaidh near Ullapool is I think the ‘best value’ hill. Great views from the top and it only takes 1.5 hours to climb. Need a car to get there though.
Blaven on Skye. Red Cuillins, it’s a Munro, one scrambly bit. From the top you get a fabulous view of the Black Cuillins ridge. Again probably need a car to do it.

Thanks, would have loved to have gone to the Loopallu festival years back but I believe it's no more. Could've combined the two.
