Anyone for a walk around Reigate?
by M1960There has been some discussion recently about the lack of invites on the site, and the purpose of this post is just to highlight something that I have said previously within various threads on the forum – that I could lead a walk around Reigate.
I'm very flexible, which is why I'm not posting this as a specific invite at this stage. I'm happy to walk any distance and to go cross-country (which I guess most people would prefer) or follow roads (which is what I normally do), and, being retired, I'm available almost anywhen.
If you are interested then please suggest a date, and say how far you would like to walk and whether you prefer mud or tarmac. If necessary, I could lead more than one walk or the same walk on different days.
I won't be the slightest bit offended if there are no takers.

Sorry it’s too far for me to travel but I hope that you get some takers for your kind offer of a made to measure guided walk! 👍
GlGlyn2 on 23/11/23 @ 21:30M1960, I do hope that you get some takers, but for me it's over 400 miles away and 7 hours continuous driving, so it's a bit far for me. So, not for me, but I do hope that you get sufficient interest as we do need more invites on the site, cheers, John.
JohnH on 23/11/23 @ 23:01😮 I'm absolutely amazed that people think it's not worth travelling from North Wales or Scotland for a walk in Surrey, particularly as the walking available here is obviously so much better – I could offer you the North Downs! 😂
on 24/11/23 @ 19:06Adaptable: 😮 How did you know what I had in mind, and are you casting aspersions on our lovely one-way system? 😂
on 25/11/23 @ 20:35If anyone wants to go off road 😮 I was thinking of perhaps starting from Earlswood Common (free car park, or street parking nearby) and including some or all of the following: Reigate Park, Reigate Heath, Colley Hill and Reigate Hill (both part of the North Downs), Gatton Park, Wray Common and Redhill Common.
The North Downs and Surrey Hills cover quite a big area, and I posted Reigate to indicate the intended location. Leading a walk around Reigate, I would be unlikely to get lost (I hope) and I could walk to the start, so I wouldn't worry about perhaps not getting there and letting anyone down. However, I know some other areas reasonably well, and I'm open to suggestions.
M1M1960 on 25/11/23 @ 20:46As far as I can see, it's not possible to edit a forum thread (and, anyway, you obviously didn't realise that I'm trying to put people off 😂).
I just wanted to pop on and say thank you for offering. It is not a hike I'd be able to get to easily unfortunately, but I do travel a lot for work, so will keep an eye out, if I am down that way.
