I'm travelling to and will be based near Wick, Kirkwall and Lerwick to walk three more of the UK's 91 old county tops and to explore some of what else these three areas have to offer eg other walks, bird reserves, most northerly golf course, archaeological sites, the Shetland folk festival and so on.
OD members are most welcome to join up with me during any of the days I'm there and plan joint activities. The days ex arriving and leaving inclusive are Wick 11-15 April, Kirkwall 16-24 April, Lerwick 25 April - 5 May 2025.
Members will arrange own transport and accommodation as needed/ desired. I will have a car which seats driver + 6 to get around at the locations and there's plenty of other transport on/ between the islands.
Please message to meet once at a location. No need to contact beforehand unless you wish. Will be fun!

Ronas Hill, 450m, Shetland, 3km each way. A barren moonscape, a magnificent place, somewhere that makes the heart skip and the skin tingle, an unforgettable, must-visit place, seemingly at the end of the world, the UK's most northerly county top. (Jonny Muir)
on 10/02/25 @ 17:41From Fiddle re Shetland Folk Music Festival 1-4 May 2025..... Best move is to buy a ticket to the Hoy on the last night- we always go to the one with the huge sports hall. Basically you sit there and every band who have played during the week come and play to you then move on. Names to look for are Richard wood and Budapest cafe orchestra but loads of the local bands are fab too especially Haltadans, Fullsceilidh, George Spencer, Bryan Gear.... we usually try to play until we get thrown out of the bars on the ferry along with the visiting bands which is great...
Will be in Kirkwall - from the 18th to 23rd April.
AlAlissyAlissy: Wonderful! Plenty of great walks, historic sites and spring sights. See you there!
