Would you share a bunkhouse now?

Wondering what ODers feelings are about shared bunkhouses at the moment.

I've just had to cancel a whole-bunkhouse booking that I made for Sep 10-12 in the Dales for another group because not enough were willing to go this year (we'd had the booking transferred over from last year, after two successful years at the same dates).

Would you be willing to sleep in a shared room at present?
Just interested in how easy or otherwise people feel.

Lot worse things floating about in a Bunkhouse or hostel than "covid" 😂

IMO they should be thrown out of the plane. Not trying to be contoversial.

It is drawn in the space above your head. The cabin crew are in more danger than you but they aren't up and down the plane all the time as in the pre-covid days. The contaminated air of course is pre-filtered by masks which I am pleased to say almost everyone complies and those who don't are thrown off the plane..

Lazlo Woodbine: efficient filters maybe but how does contaminated air get to them without being drawn past you ?

Lazlo Woodbine 11/01/2022 23:25

Planes are quite safe as the filtration system they have was designed for when smoking was allowed on planes and they never changed the design. A crowded departure lounge is more of a worry.

if no ventilation....and enough social distancing... " No"
But if you can do all the above and wearing a mask....and hand hygine....then " Yes"
I had to travel by plane as I needed to visit family after 2 years covid restriction.
I was wearing my enhanced FFP 2 mask. !!!

Lazlo Woodbine: I would prefer to be on a bus than a plane, at least you can open the windows. 🤗

Lazlo Woodbine 07/01/2022 19:33

Currently I wouldn't get on a bus never mind share a bunkhouse. Things have to improve sometime. Even the black death went away.

Hopefully sooner than September Vickster. I just need to work on the snoring.......!

Vickster 06/01/2022 13:44

Not at present but by September things could be better. I live in hope....

I used to know of people with Covid .I now know quite a few people who have had it in the past few weeks. Some very tough cookies who felt rotten.I would happily go for a walk or drink outside with friends but not sleep in a room with them. Not yet.Hopefully it won"t be much longer to wait.

I’d have to say yes too. Even as someone who’s at risk, life goes on and we can’t be scared forever

Oneearth 25/11/2021 23:24

YES.
Life goes on.
Nothing healthier than socialising, being outdoors and active.

Probably no, for a yes it would need to be very spaced out with a limited number of occupants, I haven't had covid yet and I don't intend to get it !!!

Bea (Pebbles) 01/09/2021 21:21

yes.....but need be more "spaced out" 😂

It's a difficult decision.... we (especially the oldies, of which I am one) have got very used to keeping ourselves to ourselves over the past year and a half, but at some point we shall have to mingle again. This is already happening with the young in cities, and the infection numbers keep rising. Nowhere near as many hospital cases as the last wave, but still not insignificant.
What to do? this short article poses the question:
