🌲 A Big Thank You to Steve, and Hello from Us
by Jesse, Co-AdminHi everyone,
We’re Kyle and Jess, the new owners of Outdoor Duo. Yes, we’re actually brother and sister, and yes, we get along well enough to run a website together 😋
Before anything else, we want to say a big thank you to Steve. He built this community from scratch and kept it going for years with a lot of love, time and dedication. We’re really grateful to him for trusting us to look after it from here.
Outdoor Duo will stay a family-run site and a down-to-earth space or anyone who loves the outdoors. We’re currently fixing bugs, refreshing bits of the site and planning some new features. The handover is a big one, so things may take a little time to settle.
In the meantime (and always), we want to hear from you. This community belongs to the people who use it. If you’ve got ideas, grumbles or features you want, please share them in the thread below. Email us at support@outdoorduo.com or message Admin (Kyle) or Co-Admin (Jess).
Here's to a new adventure together!

Hi Kyle & Jess, will Steve remain active on this site,
lalandranger68Hi Kyle & Jess and thank you Steve for all your help over many years.
KTKath_TI've been a member for 11 years and we've been trying to keep the invites going on Outdoor Duo recently.
Welcome and good luck! Cheers, Patrick
PaPatrickHi Kyle and Jess! Welcome. Exciting times! Can't wait to how you refresh and improve the site.
landranger68: Hi! Yes, Steve will still be around on the site. He knows the community so well and we’re really grateful for his support while we get settled in. 😊
on 25/11/25 @ 5:55Kath_T: Thanks, Kath - 11 years! That’s practically Outdoor Duo royalty. Steve’s done an amazing job building this place, and we’re so grateful to the community members, like yourself, for keeping the invites going strong. We’d love to hear any ideas on making the invite system better or how we can help you promote them even more.🌿
on 25/11/25 @ 5:58Patrick: Cheers, Patrick! Appreciate the good-luck wishes - we’ll take all we can get. If anything breaks, assume it was definitely Kyle. 😉
on 25/11/25 @ 5:59Morninglover: Thank you! We’re buzzing about the refresh too. Slowly dusting things off, fixing the squeaky bits, and trying not to set anything on fire in the process. 🔧😄
Hi both. Steve made something very special here. Been a member since 2010 and in that time have made some wonderful friends and have lasting memories. Cannot praise it enough. Long may it continue. 😎
Hi Rourky,
This is so lovely to read, thank you. Steve really did build something special, and it means a lot hearing what Outdoor Duo has meant to you since 2010. Friends and lasting memories is exactly what we hope the community keeps creating.
We’ll do our best to look after it and help it grow, while keeping the heart of it the same.
😊

Hello I am Gerri the mum also helping out!
Brilliant to see the commitment to continuity and with support from Mum too...lovely to see.
trtrekkieGreat bug warm thanks to Steve and for finding new appropriate and sympathetic people to take things forward.
I have a soft spot for OD having been involved from fairly early on and I think putting on some of the early events for which there was great appetite and solid attendance and support.
This has dwindled over the years.
Something not unique to OD and I would be more than happy to work with you to try and find the magic formula.
Best
trekkie: Thank you so much for this, it really means a lot to read. We’re very aware we’re stepping into something that’s been built with a lot of care over many years and absolutely want to hold that close.
You’re spot on about the early events and the appetite that was there. We’d love to learn more about that period and explore how we can gently bring some of that energy back in a way that fits how people connect now.
If you’re happy to share, we’d be really interested to hear what some of those early events looked like and what you think made them work so well at the time. We’ll drop you a private message so we can chat about that magic formula ✨🌿
trekkie: Hi Len,Yes those were the Days.Wonderful Days on the Hills and carried on through the Evening.I think that we are the only Remnants ,of those Times, Completely different Backgrounds, but we were all energised by the The Lakeland Hills, Rain or Shine, but mostly Rain.I may be 80.but S .D.W.Completed last year, with another marathon in the Planning stage,Will be in Little Langdale in mid March.
